Class Topics (Subject to Change):
Forces and Motion, Types of Force Interactions, Definitions of Energy, Energy and Force relationships, Defining and Delimiting Engineering Problems, Developing possible solutions to those problems, optimizing design of solutions.
Class Materials:
When we do lab work in class, cooperate and participation are critical to a group's success. You will be assigned to a lab group.
One lab report per group- each member must sign the lab report. By doing so, they agree that the lab is finished and will receive the same score as the rest of the group.
Getting Credit for the Work you Do
Each student will be required to assess themselves and their group members. 80% of lab report grade come from me, the remaining 20% comes from within the group. The assessment for group work will be done electronically so you can feel confident that the only person who sees an individuals score will be me.
Late Work
Work must be turned in to receive a grade, on a scale from 1-4. You always have the opportunity to redo an assignment to meet the requirements as set forth on the rubric.
Attendance and Make-Up Work
When you are absent or late, you mess things up for yourself, for me and for your lab partners. It is your responsibility to make up work and come to me to ask for it, which I will, of course, give to you. Missed labs or tests may require you to come in before or after school. Making up missed work is done on my own time, so it's up to you to work with my availability!
Tardiness
For real... don't be late. Try not to leave school early. If you have a sporting event that requires you to leave early, make sure you're scheduled during callback to go over anything we might have done when you were gone.
Activities and Planned Absences
Make sure you let me know before your absence, if its planned. I will give assignments (hopefully) before you leave so that you can get them done and hand them in THE DAY YOU RETURN.
Make-up Tests
If you are absent on a test day FOR ANY REASON, you will take a separate make-up test. Tests are announced about a week prior to the test date. If you miss the day before a test and return on test day- you will still be required to take the test.
